- All throughout chapter 1, Nick, the narrator, describes himself as being a non-judgmental, neutral man, as he describes in the first few sentences of the book. “Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages you’ve had” He graduated for New Haven in 1915, and after participating in the Great War, he decided to move East in search of a job in the Bond Business, and moved East to West egg, Long Island, New York permanently in Spring, 1922. He is the neighbour of two very wealthy people, Tom and Daisy. Nick gets invited to have dinner t there’s, and meet one of Daisies friends, Miss Baker. Nick also finds out that Tom is cheating on his wife and is having an affair with another woman.
